Today’s DateMonday, May 31, 2021

7 Hayden is collecting pop can tabs for the IWK. They hope to collect 11 pounds by Friday, June 18, 2021. If you help them reach their goal, there will be a special surprise. Get popping those pop cans! Teachers you will have a baggie supplied to you to help store the tabs that will be collected every Friday. 😊

This week is Disability Awareness Week, in recognition each class will be attending a virtual event on Tuesday with guest speaker Robert Hanson. Robert is an avid swimmer, runs a successful charity and spends a lot of time exploring the city of Toronto with his guide dog. His favorite pastimes are cooking, skiing, rock climbing and woodworking. When Robert was four years old, he learned to adapt to a world without sight.

Meaningful May daily challenge: recall three things you’ve done that you are proud of.

Tomorrow is Red Shirt day. Wear a red shirt to show your support for people living with disability, celebrate the achievements and contributions of persons with disabilities, and show your commitment to helping create an accessible and inclusive Canada.

Throughout the week, each class will take part in the Walk and Roll event, by taking three laps around the school.

Today we celebrate our May Birthday Babies with cupcakes!  You will be invited down to the foyer in front of the main office around 2:45.  Please wait for the announcement to be made!  And staff, we have not forgotten about you – cupcakes in the cafeteria at lunch today!  Do enjoy!

Our students of the month will be announced by Mrs. Throop at the end of period 5 and we thank her for recognizing these students’ achievements!

Wednesday is our first June Wellness Day and it is a Tie-Dye day!  Be sure to come to school decked out in everything tie-dye in order to get points for your class.  All of the wellness information and activities were sent to staff last Friday, so please read carefully through the information as there is a lot!  Thank you to everyone who has brought items in for these events, and to those who have offered to run stations!  Your support is very much appreciated!

Today is mindful Monday:

Open minded people don’t care to be right, they care to understand.
